Democratic National Convention - A day in the life of our local Democrats

Durango, CO and La Plata County want to welcome the Democratic National Convention visitors to come to the Four Corners area and experience a day in the life of our local Democrats.

Democratic delegates from across the nation will convene in Denver this August for the National Convention. Located six scenic hours southwest of Denver, we invite delegates to explore Durango and Southwestern Colorado to experience a day in the life of a local Democrat. Travel packages have been created by Democratic leaders in Durango to allow visitors to experience a real southwestern town with endless outdoor activities, incredible scenery, culture/history, and award winning restaurants, rest and relaxation. Local Democratic political leaders Wally White, Joelle Riddle and Michael Rendon offer suggestions for a perfect Durango getaway. They have each created an unforgettable experience that showcases what the area has to offer.


Wally White - Democratic County Commissioner

Wally White - Experience a day in the Life of Durango through the eyes of our local democratic County Commissioner, Wally White. White, 65, a Democrat who represents District 3, has been a La Plata county resident since 1979. Wally is passionate about preserving the wonderful quality of life that we enjoy in La Plata County and possesses a deep interest in our areas rich cultural heritage. Joelle Riddle - Democratic County Commissioner

Joelle Riddle - Experience a day in the Life of Durango through the eyes of our local democratic County Commissioner, Joelle Riddle. Riddle, 32, has long served in the political arena for La Plata County, including as a Young Democrat and then chair of the La Plata County Democratic Party. Joelle has always made community participation an integral part of her life. She co-founded the Four Corner’s Safe School Coalition and co-organized the Latino Health Fair and volunteered with Prom Til Dawn after-prom party. Michael Rendon - Democratic City Counsilman

Michael Rendon - Experience a day in the Life of Durango through the eyes of our local democratic City Councilman, Michael Rendon. Rendon, 35, a democrat and a native Coloradan, has lived in La Plata County for 15 years and currently serves as an engaged member of the Durango City Council. An avid international traveler that has been around the world, Rendon believes that nothing compares to the San Juan National Forest and our community in La Plata County. Michael is dedicated to affordable housing, renewable energy solutions and buying local within our community.
